I know a person who drilled a small hole in the small side panel (above the left cylinder and below the fuel tank cover) by his left knee and the plug sits almost flush. Of course, he has to drill another hole a few inches to the front of the first hole because his knee hit the first plug and the plug got damaged. No, I would not do this, but it's an option for some. I live with the connector sticking out the right side by the battery.

 

Thanks for sharing. At first glance, it seems like an oversight, but there really is no easy place to install another outlet. I had considered drilling, but it makes me almost cry to think about doing that!

 

I would not drill a hole in my panel. He is replacing the panel $70. Maybe just do it for the winter then put a new panel in for the rest of the year. Hide the plug behind the panel in the summer.

 

The cast subframe doesn't make this easy.

The best I could come up with is to have it come out on the left side, at the front bottom corner of the seat. At that location, I can tuck it back under the seat when not in use.

Thanks Paul. That is probably the best, most non-invasive approach. Did you go directly to the battery? Any special considerations with a Lithium battery?

Mine came with a lithium battery with the standard SAE lead connected to it. no problem
