not sure what's going on with your bike, but the 1300 has a noisier motor than the old 1250. i think it's caused by two things.
first is one cam chain is forward. the other is it has a quiter exhaust. maybe you can connect with another 1300 owner to compare bikes. i suspect your dealer is correct.

fran ! no sweat bro. i sort of miss the throatier sound ( and less engine noise )
of my previous gs's. i wish i could test- ride some after market slip ons, as i don't like noisy exhausts, either. i know that catalytics have a lot to do with the sound.
i went as far as removing the cat from my 1290 and thruxton ( and got what i wanted ), but doubt i will go so far with my '25 1300 ( noisy motor, not withstanding ).

heh-heh ! ... except for the way these bikes are computerized, the data recorder will probably squeal on you if you even think bad thoughts !
